October Favorites!

Wow, where did fall go?! I can't believe tomorrow is November 1st! October was a great month for me with a lot of big changes. I left my full-time job to pursue my career as an Esthetician and Makeup Artist! I'll be sharing more about more about my experience with that in a later post. For now, let's get to the good stuff-October Favorites!

1. Stila Glitter and Glow Liquid Eyeshadow ($24 Sephora).

This product is AMAZING! I love glitter (who doesn't), but it's hard to find a glitter that stays put, lasts a decent amount of time, and that is safe-this is that product! There are so many gorgeous shades, but I got the Rose Gold Retro and Bronzed Bell and I love them both! These are super easy to use, they come with an applicator similar to a lip gloss, but I like to apply them with a brush. I put the product on the back of my hand and use a flat brush to apply to the eyelid, or an eyeliner brush to do glitter liner or a cut crease.

2. Sonia Roselli Japanese Cleansing Oil ($43

Okay, so yes, this is a pricey one, but I love love love it! I wear a full face of full-coverage makeup almost every day and this cleansing oil removes ALL of it, easily and quickly. It's a little weird to use, if you've never used an oil cleanser, because you apply the oil with dry hands onto dry skin. Once you've massaged the oil into your skin, you can rinse it clean with warm water-it doesn't leave any residue at all! Plus, it's non-comedogenic, meaning it won't clog your pores or cause break outs. If you've been hearing about Korean skincare, oil cleansing is one of the most important steps and now I totally get why.

3. Philosophy Purity Made Simple Pore Extractor Mask ($35 Sephora).

While talking skincare, let's talk awesome exfoliators-this one! I really love that this is applied as a clay mask first (to draw out excess oil) and then water is added to create a scrub (that removes dead skin cells). I will say that this is a pretty intense exfoliator, so I'd suggest starting with using it once a week and then working up to two to three times. I would also advise against using this product if you have open breakouts, scabbing from said breakouts, or really sensitive skin. I know it's tempting to use these types of products for acneic skin, but manual exfoliants (scrubs) can make the breakouts worse by irritating the skin and spreading the bacteria! I'll share exfoliant suggestions for acneic skin in a later post! Back to my original point, this is a great product to get soft, polished skin! Make sure to apply a great serum and moisturizer to get the full impact!

4. Too Faced Hangover Replenishing Face Primer ($32 Sephora).

Confession, I've never used a primer! I truly believe that excellent skin care is what primes your face for makeup. That being said, I figured it wouldn't hurt to see what the fuss is about! I really really enjoy this primer! It's hydrating, absorbs quickly, and it really did help my foundation apply smoothly. I should probably try an eyeshadow primer haha!

5. Big Sexy Hair Full Bloom Long-Lasting Thickening & Refreshing Spray ($20

I have very thin, very fine's something I'm quite insecure about. I've always been a wash-my-hair-everyday kind of gal, even though I've been told a bunch that that's bad for my hair. The problem for me is that if I don't wash my hair daily, it looks oily and gross...or it did until I tried this! I didn't have high hopes, but this product kept my hair looking volumized and shiny for two days! It didn't get greasy, nor did it get dry (a problem often caused by alcohol in volumizing products). This also smells great! It's easy to use, I just spray it into my roots while my hair is still wet, blow dry my hair (gently of course!) and that's it!
